An Extra Special Birthday Surprise for Chloe
Seven year old Chloe was anxiously awaiting her Bone Marrow Transplant in the hospital when her birthday rolled around. Chloe is your typical little girl who loves playing with slime, watching Disney Channel, and drawing unicorns. She particularly loves the Disney show, “I Didn’t Do It,” and her favorite character is played by Piper Curda. She was bummed about having to celebrate her birthday in the hospital, and all she wanted to do was be at home with her friends. When we received the request to do her room, the hospital had made a note that they would love to surprise her with a video of Piper wishing her a happy birthday. We did one better! Rather than just sending her a video, we brought Piper in to decorate with us. When we got to the hospital, Chloe’s mom came out to tell us that she was sad and could really use some cheering up. We walked into her room with a wagon overflowing with pink blankets, sparkly pillows, and unicorn toys. When Piper walked in the room, Chloe squealed! She was cheered up instantly. For the next hour, they spent time together making matching friendship bracelets and talking about unicorns. As we sung happy birthday and had cupcakes, Chloe hugged Piper and said, “this is the best birthday EVER!!”
