OUR SPECIAL PROJECTS - FUNDRAISING

Our Fort Worth Chapter has done a fabulous job fundraising for Cook Children’s. This past spring, they put together a social media matching campaign to raise funds as well as put together a bingo fundraiser at Lot 12. It is so remarkable to see these college kids come together to help our sweet hospital patients.

  • From the moment I heard about Once Upon A Room I immediately felt a connection with the organization and their purpose. I first got involved through one of the founders of OUR, Siena, when she suggested to a few of our friends that we bring OUR to our college campus. From that moment on I was driven to be as involved as I could and made an effort to learn everything and anything I could to make a difference through OUR as well as spread the word to my surrounding college community. It was difficult at first getting things up and running at our college due to COVID, however the first time I was able to decorate a room was truly miraculous. Being able to witness the impact OUR had on these children was a moment I will remember forever. However, I soon realized the children are not the only ones impacted by the magic of OUR. The parents of these children are equally as touched and thankful for the joy OUR brings their children in such a dark time. I specifically remember a time when a mother embraced me as she began to cry and told me how much this experience meant to her because it made her feel that someone else other than herself was looking out for her baby. This moment stuck with me because I realized OUR was able to allow families all over the country to feel like they aren’t alone in this battle. I am forever thankful for OUR and their selfless founders, and hope to continue to spread their mission anywhere I can.

  • “Thank you so much for helping coordinate and decorate Savannah’s room. She cannot stop smiling and the family is over the moon. This is easily the happiest we have gotten to see her since her admission. Thank you for all you do – it is incredibly invaluable and makes the world of a difference.”
