In February 2023, the non-profit, Once Upon a Room Grand Rapids (OUR-GR) officially launched, offering hospital room makeovers to children undergoing long-term hospitalization. OUR-GR stocks the family pantry at Mary Free Bed. They also provide activities and support to child life specialists.
The aim of OUR-GR is to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for young patients, alleviating some of the stress and discomfort that comes with a hospital stay.

Jenny Pam received her very own Toy Story room makeover at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. Every patient also gets to experience their very own “room reveal.”

Feed the Families
Every time we decorate at Mary Free Bed, we also bring snacks, small meals, treats, and beverages for the family lounge. This provides caregivers and siblings staying with patients access to snacks and treats! If your group is interested in helping stock the pantry please reach out below!
